Chelsea ‘sloppy’ despite win at Norwich – Hiddink
Boss Guus Hiddink said Chelsea were “sloppy” at Norwich despite managing to maintain their excellent recent run with another win.
The Blues went ahead through Kenedy’s goal after just 39 seconds and Diego Costa, who was in an offside position, made it 2-0.
But the home side battled in the second half and Chelsea were forced to absorb pressure after Nathan Redmond pulled a goal back
“We didn’t want to end up in a battle but they forced us into a battle,” said Hiddink, whose team remain unbeaten in the league since he took over.
“We were sloppy. We started very well and got a beautiful goal from Kenedy and we could have finished it off a little bit earlier. We were a little complacent.
“We needed to finish the game off. In the end Norwich made it very difficult for us.”
Chelsea defender Gary Cahill also admitted that the visitors had been pushed all the way.
“It was horrible by the end. The last 15 to 20 minutes was tough,” Cahill said.
“In first half we were in control. In the second, it was a totally different game. Credit to them. It feels good to dig in and grind out the result.”
More reaction from Carrow Road to follow later.
