Chelsea linked with Newcastle star, while Barton hits back

Chelsea have added Newcastle striker Demba Ba to their list of potential summer targets, according to the Daily Mail.

Newcastle, who also expect a Chelsea bid for Cheick Tiote, are said to be hopeful they can keep Ba but accept they are vulnerable to substantial offers.

The Mail also pick up on Joey Barton’s comments after he was booed by QPR fans as he was being substituted against Liverpool.

He tweeted: “I was awful tonight. Worst I’ve ever played in my career. But we won… and that’s the most important thing. Onwards and upwards.

“Disappointed with fans booing, we’re meant to be in it together. They won’t break me, guaranteed. I’ve been through much worse.”
