Chelsea Ladies start with FA Cup win
Rachel Williams scored an extra-time winner as Chelsea Ladies’ new-look side began their season with a 2-1 victory against Bristol Academy in the fifth round of the Women’s FA Cup.
They made the perfect start at Staines Town’s Wheatsheaf Park ground, where Ji So-Yun put them ahead after only a minute.
The visitors were level by the interval and Chelsea went close to restoring the lead in normal time when Gilly Flaherty headed narrowly wide.
But England international Williams, one of the Blues’ new signings, found the net in the 110th minute to send them through to the next round.
