Chelsea ‘force Spurs out of the race for Newcastle keeper’
Chelsea have again been linked with Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul, with The Mail on Sunday suggesting the Blues are lining up a £15m bid for the Dutchman.
It is claimed their determination to land Krul on £90,000-a-week wages has forced Tottenham out of the race to sign him, leaving Spurs to look abroad.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has apparently agreed to bankroll a big-money offer for Krul after growing concerns over the form of Petr Cech.
The Sun on Sunday report that keeper Thibaut Courtois, who has been on loan at Atletico Madrid from Chelsea, would like to stay in Spain for another season.
The Sunday Mirror, meanwhile, have an interview with Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, who insists his players do not fear Chelsea’s physical strength.
The two teams meet in the Champions League next week and Guardiola said: “Am I worried by Chelsea’s physical approach? No, I’m not worried.
“We have the mentality to control this situation. It’s very important to have this mentality.”

The days of Roman snapping his fingers and getting a club’s top player(s) are over.
Why would Tim want to go to Chelsea when he is contentedly playing for a superb team with an outside chance of Champions League football?
The Daily Mail should realise that the face of football in the Premiership is changing and get with the times.
