Chelsea chief pleased with draw
Chief executive Ron Gourlay welcomed the news that Chelsea will face Benfica in the quarter-finals of the Champions League but insisted they will not underestimate the Portuguese side.
Chelsea will be at home in the second leg and the winners of the tie will face AC Milan or Barcelona for a place in the final.
“It’s a good draw for us. It doesn’t matter who you get at this stage, it will be a difficult game, but it was important for us to get the away game first, so we’re pleased,” Gourlay told Sky.
“We’ll worry about that game and focus on that. Then if we get through – and show spirit as we did on Wednesday evening [against Napoli] – then we can look beyond that.
“We know quite a lot about Benfica because they topped Manchester United’s group. Let’s just worry about them and give them the credit they deserve.”
