Chelsea boss wary of Royals threat
Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo insists his team cannot afford to take Reading for granted in Tuesday’s match at Stamford Bridge.
The European champions will be expected to take maximum points from their first home game of the season, but Di Matteo says the promoted Royals will be dangerous opponents.
“They don’t concede many and are a threat on the counter-attack. I always found it hard to play against them,” he warned.
“I’m very wary of promoted teams – you saw how well Southampton did [against Manchester City].
“It’s difficult when you play a promoted team early on because they’re full of enthusiasm and spirit.”
Di Matteo added: “It’s always crucial if you can get off to a good start. It gives you a bit of confidence and makes you believe you can have good season.”
