Chelsea boss ‘planning £25m bid’ for German star
Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo is planning a £25m bid for German star Andre Schurrle, according to The People.
It is claimed Di Matteo wants the 21-year-old Bayer Leverkusen forward as a replacement for Didier Drogba.
Schurrle has been linked with several clubs but is said to be swaying towards west London.
Manchester United plan to beat Chelsea to the signing of Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski, the Mail on Sunday suggest.
United have apparently indicated that they are willing to pay £12m for the striker.
The Mail also say Chelsea are closing in on Wigan forward Victor Moses after the Latics made an enquiry for Everton’s Victor Anichebe.
Meanwhile, Italian side Roma could gazump Liverpool and sign Clint Dempsey, The People suggest.
Dempsey has been tipped to move to Anfield but Fulham are believed to want £10m for the American.
And it is claimed that Roma are now preparing a bid for him – with the £12m fee they received from Liverpool for striker Fabio Borini.
The Daily Star Sunday say Fulham are still trying to sign Vitesse Arnhem defender Alexander Buttner after the apparent collapse of his move to Southampton.
And The People say Wigan are competing with Watford and Blackburn for the signing of out-of-favour QPR striker DJ Campbell.

di mateo think, bidding for only andre schurt can replace drogba, where as no, b/c only him can not sharping the attack, but mateo still need to buy hulk or lewandoski(by increasing the offer for lewandoski, to beat man u offer) or van persie , which will now balance the squard, without any leakage, di mateo and villa boash should try and spend one more time again.

Obviously, Andre Schurrie is a fantastic player with great qualities as a winger and striker. He’s young and talented. He’s good for Chealsea. The blues for life.

Schurrle is a winger, a good winger obviously and can play as a striker but unless you pull a Henry with him and switch him permanently, which is unlikely, he will remain primarily a winger so cannot be described as a Drogba ‘replacement’ particularly with only 7 goals last season. Otherwise, I would like him, we need a right winger.
