QPR fans on Twitter hail Smyth
QPR fans on Twitter have been hailing a new hero after Paul Smyth’s debut goal earned victory over Cardiff.
The 20-year-old, a summer signing from Linfield, marked his breakthrough into the first team with a 72nd-minute strike.
And Rangers supporters were very excited by the Northern Irishman’s potential…
Well wasn’t Smyth an absolute breath of fresh air. Lively, nippy, constantly looking to be positive and beat a man. Proper little livewire. Must play #qpr

Paul smyth looks like being a great signing. Young, athletic, determined and bags the winner on his debut… giving youth a chance is always a step in the right direction #QPRvCAR #QPR

Have to give credit to Holloway for starting Smyth today, big gamble paid off for him & imo kept him in the job!! #QPR

However, some fans remained cautious about piling too much expectation on the youngster…
#QPR The lad Smyth done well but he’s young and can’t carry a team pic.twitter.com/UYeNuMMp6h

I hope we all realise that Smyth can’t and be expected to start and play every game. #QPR

Praying that the QPR media team just let P Smyth just get on with his football, and don’t spend the next week hyping him to within an inch of his life. We heap for my pressure on the smallest success story, and when they don’t deliver instantly they are usually cast out.

i hope this little episode doesn’t detract from the fact that we need an experienced goalscorer, young smyth did really well and I hope he gets his chance but he is not the answer to a 20 goal a season striker, which we badly need.
