Arsenal to offer Walcott in exchange for Sterling – report
Arsenal are ready to offer Liverpool Theo Walcott in exchange for Raheem Sterling, The Sun say.
It is claimed contract talks with Walcott have stalled and the Gunners will offer Walcott plus £8m in a bid to bring Sterling back to London.
There has been speculation about Sterling’s future as he too is currently negotiating a new contract.
It was recently reported that Sterling wanted a £50,000-a-week deal at Anfield, which the 17-year-old from Harlesden dismissed on Twitter as “stirring”.
Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants Real Madrid to make a bid for Ashley Cole in January, according to the Daily Mirror.
Cole, whose Stamford Bridge contract expires at the end of the season, has previously been linked with the Spanish giants.
And it is claimed Real boss Mourinho is keen to sign him as a replacement for Marcelo, who will be out for months with a broken foot.
It is also suggested that Cole, said to be considering a move to Paris St-Germain, would be tempted by Real if they made an offer.
The Mirror also say Juventus will offer Chelsea legend Didier Drogba a return to the Champions League if the Italian side qualify for the last 16.
Meanwhile, former QPR manager Terry Venables says the club should stick with Mark Hughes – even if Rangers lose to fellow strugglers Southampton.
It has been suggested that Hughes, who played under Venables at Barcelona, could be fired if his team fail to pick up their first league win of the season today.
In his column in The Sun, Venables writes: “A new manager would almost certainly want to make more new signings of his own in January.
“Then the club would be back to square one, waiting for new players to gel with the second half of the season well under way. I would stick with Hughes.”
