Ajax vs Chelsea — What’s Chelsea’s Future in the Champions League?
Ajax lost 0-1 on the home court against Chelsea when Michy Batshuayi scored a winner in 86’. This is definitely a victory the Blues needed to reach the first place in the group and facilitate going through to the knockout stage. There are still three more games to play, and the current stats look pretty good for the club.

All four teams in the group have played three matches so far, and Chelsea currently occupies the first place. The Blues did not have a good start at this year’s UEFA Champions League as they managed to lose to Valencia on the home court.
Nevertheless, they made up for it by winning the away games against Lille and Ajax. They now have the same number of points as Ajax — both teams currently have six points from two victories and one loss. Although Ajax has a much better goal difference compared to Chelsea, it currently occupies the second place since they lost to the Blues.
Valencia currently has one victory (against Chelsea) one loss (against Ajax) and a draw against Lille. On the other hand, Lille lost to both Chelsea and Ajax.
Anything could happen at this point. However, it’s safe to say that Lille doesn’t have much chance to reach the knockout stage. It is also safe to say that Chelsea has the potential to go through, but it is uncertain whether they will do it as first- or second-placed.
What’s definitely noticeable is that they improved their game in the UEFA Champions League by far. It seems that Valencia was just the first obstacle they failed to overcome, but the second-leg game is around the corner, so the Blues will have a chance to test their skills against Valencia once again.
This time, they are going to play in Spain, which will make things a bit more difficult. However, the fact that they won two away games is somewhat encouraging at this point!

At this point in time, it is fairly difficult to make any conclusions. Chelsea has had a lot of success in this competition and even managed to win one trophy back in 2012.
