Agent: Barton wants Marseille move

Joey Barton’s agent Willie McKay has told a French radio station the midfielder is keen to complete his proposed loan transfer to Marseille.

A possible move for Barton came up for discussion when QPR expressed an interest in buying Marseille’s Cameroon international Stephane Mbia, who has been in talks with the R’s.

McKay told RMC: ”Joey wants to play in Marseille this season. We are negotiating, but nothing is done for now.

“I don’t want to comment more with respect for [Marseille coach] Jose Anigo and the president Vincent Labrune.”
