Premiership leaders Harlequins have extended Sam Smith’s contract to the end of the 2013/14 season.
Smith, 21, is a product of the Quins’ academy and has made 22 appearances for the club, scoring an impressive 12 tries.
“I am excited to have re-signed to such a great club,” said Smith, who has represented England at Under-16, Under-18 and Under-20 levels.
“There is so much young talent coming through and, having grown up at Quins with a lot of the players, I know the importance of these relationships on the pitch.
“It has been a great season so far and I am looking forward to the future with the club. I have always wanted to be a Quin and I am enjoying every bit of it.”
Quins director of rugby Conor O’Shea said: “We are thrilled Sam has committed to us. He is a young player with a really professional attitude and an uncanny ability to score tries.
“Sam is an example to all young players with how he conducts himself, both on and off the pitch.
“I have no doubt that with his work ethic he will continue to improve in all aspects of his game and score a huge number of tries for this club.”
