Robshaw agrees new Harlequins contract
Harlequins star Chris Robshaw has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract.
The two-time Premiership player of the year has made 210 appearances for Quins since his debut in 2005, having come through the academy.
He was skipper when Harlequins won the Amlin Challenge Cup in 2011 and the Premiership in 2012, but relinquished the role last season to Joe Marler, before Danny Care’s subsequent appointment in August.
Robshaw has also led England for 42 of his 43 Tests, including this year’s World Cup.
Harlequins have not revealed the length of the new deal, but Robshaw follows England colleague Mike Brown in extending his stay.
The 29-year-old flanker told the Quins official website: “The club feels like an extended family to me with its amazing players, management and supporters.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds and I’m extremely excited to keep pushing for silverware with both Harlequins and England.”
Quins director of rugby Conor O’Shea added: “Chris is everything you want in a rugby player and everything that you would want as a person. He has achieved incredible things in his career to date.
“I’m sure everyone at Harlequins will be delighted with this announcement and will look forward to seeing Chris playing in a Harlequins and England shirt for many years to come.”
