Quins part of charity weekend to support players

Harlequins’ away match against Exeter Chiefs on Sunday will be dedicated to providing support to rugby charity Restart Rugby.

The charity provides practical and emotional support to current and former players going through hardship.

Restart Rugby is the official charity of the Rugby Players Association (RPA) and will host several activities this weekend as it aims to raise £20,000 for its 24/7 confidential counselling service, which supports male and female players.

Alongside mental health support, Restart provide financial and practical support during difficult times, including help with the cost of medical treatment, rehabilitation equipment and disability support.

There will be collection pots and activities outside grounds at every Gallagher Premiership match this weekend.

James Chisholm, who is Harlequins’ Restart ambassador, said: “Mental health issues affect so many people every year and rugby players are no exception.

“The players are so lucky to have professional round-the-clock support from Restart through their confidential 24-hour counselling service should you ever need it.

“Knowing where to get help is part of the battle. This weekend gives the rugby family the chance to support our players and a charity that does amazing work to help those of us that might be struggling.”
