Quins boss O’Shea agrees new contract

Harlequins director of rugby Conor O’Shea has signed a new contract with the club until 2016.

Coaches John Kingston and Collin Osborne have also committed their immediate futures to Quins by extending their deals.

O’Shea, 43, took charge in March 2010 and has overseen the most successful period in the history of the club in the professional era, winning the Amlin Challenge Cup in 2011, the Aviva Premiership title in 2012 and the LV= Cup in 2013.

The current Quins coaching staff have also been responsible for bringing through an exceptional group of talented players, including England captain Chris Robshaw and Jack Clifford, the skipper of the England under-20 side that won the World Cup in June.

O’Shea, a former London Irish player, coach and managing director, said he was ‘very privileged’ to have had his tenure at the Stoop extended.

He said: “Every day I go into the club, I meet a group of coaches, players and support staff that wants to be the best they can be and wants to bring success to a club that belongs at the top of the game.

“Our ambitions are to ensure that what we are building here is a lasting legacy, that we play rugby in a style that our supporters enjoy and is true to the tradition of this club.”
