Harlequins full-back Mike Brown could miss the rest of the season because of concussion concerns after being knocked out playing for England in February.
Brown will miss Quins’ Premiership match against Sale on Saturday and director of rugby Conor O’Shea says they will not be rushing him back.
Brown did play for England in the Six Nations against Scotland and France after the Italy game, but O’Shea said he “didn’t feel quite right” and has not played domestic rugby since.
Quins, who are eighth in the table, have three games to play – with the possibility of two more if they make the play-offs for a European place.
O’Shea said: “If I was a betting man I wouldn’t expect to see him back for the match against Bath in a few weeks. Maybe Newcastle [on May 16] but we’ll see what is best for the player.
“He’s a competitor and just wants to play, but I think we have done right by the player. He will be in training once he gets over the symptoms, but he is not symptom-free.”
