Youngsters standing by for QPR cup tie

Toni Leistner looks unlikely to be available for QPR’s FA Cup tie against Swansea.

Rangers played the final 12 minutes of the recent 6-1 victory over Cardiff with 10 men after Leistner limped off – with boss Mark Warburton having already made three substitutions.

The German centre-back is nursing a calf problem and by Saturday it was looking increasingly likely that he will miss out against the Swans.

Fellow defender Yoann Barbet has a calf injury of his own and remains sidelined.

Warburton is therefore considering giving a senior debut to Conor Masterton.

Irish youngster Masterson, 21, was signed last summer after being released by Liverpool.

He has been lined up for a loan move in order for him to pick up first-team experience during the second half of the season, but could first make his Rangers bow.

Several other youngsters are in contention to play in third-round tie.
