Pawel Wszolek’s late winner meant QPR ended a troubled year with a fantastic away victory.
Injury-hit and having suffered six consecutive defeats, Rangers went ahead seven minutes into the second half when Wszolek crossed for Idrissa Sylla to score.
Dave Edwards equalised by scoring from Helder Costa’s cross.
But Polish winger Wszolek poked home from close range with three minutes remaining to win it for Ian Holloway’s side.
Rangers, with the fit-again Jamie Mackie making his first start of the season and Irish youngster Ryan Manning making his senior debut, had to defend for much of the game.
Keeper Alex Smithies denied Bright Enobakhare in the first half and Costa crossed for Nouha Dicko, who headed wide.
The result lifted the R’s to 19th in the Championship table, now five points clear of the relegation zone.
