Marco Ramkilde is back in training after a recent injury but QPR boss Mark Warburton says the Dane is not expected to push for a first-team place any time soon.
Some Rangers fans on social media expressed surprise that Ramkilde, 22, was not involved at the start of the season when Warburton’s attacking options were limited.
The striker was nursing an injury but in any case was not signed as a first-team player when QPR gave him contract in March following a trial.
He did, however, come on as a substitute to make his debut in the final match of last season, against West Brom.
Manager Warburton said: “He had an injury problem but is back training now and, touch wood, all is good.”
Ramkilde represented his country at various youth levels but his progress was curtailed by a long-term knee injury.
He joined QPR as a free agent, having left Danish club AaB.
Warburton explained: “He’s a player developing. He’s a young player and he wasn’t coming in as immediate first team - far from it.
“He had a long injury spell - 18 months to two years of injury.
“He was a very talented youth player and Marco’s a great guy who came in and has kept working.
“But he never came to be straight in the first team.”
