QPR boss keen to complete two signings
Mark Warburton reiterated his desire to bring in new signings after QPR’s 2-1 win at Birmingham.
Rangers’ victory took them up to fifth in the Championship table – just five points behind second-placed Blackburn and with a game in hand.
But manager Warburton wants to make at least two additions to his squad during this month’s transfer window in order to maintain a promotion challenge.
He wants an experienced centre-back – Rangers are trying to complete the signing of Bournemouth’s Steve Cook but face late competition from Nottingham Forest.
The ongoing Covid-19 situation and the loss of Ilias Chair, keeper Seny Dieng and Osman Kakay during the Africa Cup of Nations are other concerns facing the club.
“I think we need two more, just to cover things,” Warburton said.
“We lose three boys to AFCON and I had 15 players for the game against Bristol City. It’s tough.
“Some teams won’t be affected by AFCON. We are badly affected. Then you have Covid and injuries. This truly is a unique time.”
Albert Adomah and Chris Willock scored at St Andrew’s, where Rangers had to withstand late pressure after Chuks Aneke pulled a goal back for the Blues.
“We had to see the game out and manage it well, and the players deserve a lot of credit,” Warburton said.

it would be good to update your reports on time. Cook has signed for Forest but not a word on your website. I used to read WLS to keep up to date. Now I read it for history

I agree with these other comments. However it looks like one potential signing has made a very big error.

Hi QPR are in my humble opinion making good solid progress and yes I am concerned about the possible loss of young talent like Dickie and Chair who are attracting attention from premier clubs. That said I have supported the ‘R’s since 1965 and feel there us again a level stability that been missing for a while. Warbarton and Ferdinand at the helm is good and reminds me the days under Alex Stock and Gordon Jago. The latter being our hay days of Bowles Francis and Thomas to name but three. If we can hold into our good players it will be great but if selling is necessary make sure that we get millions for them. Dickie and Chair are worth 20 million each.
Keep going you ‘R’s and Warbs you are doing a fantastic job

I worry that we will sell Dickie and what ever he goes for would not be the prize of promotion millions. If we miss out on the playoffs he will still be worth the same or a lot more in June. So don’t rock the boat, bring a few in and let’s go for it if we could just tighten up the defence a bit we would be in the top two.
Well done all at qpr let’s just go for it to the finish.
Look where Blackburn are in the last few weeks of great results we can do the same by may.
