Mark Warburton says he has been reluctant to pair Lyndon Dykes with Macauley Bonne up front because the QPR forwards have not trained together.
Dykes has mostly been deployed as Rangers’ lone striker, with fellow summer signing Bonne acting as a back-up option.
That has partly been because Dykes' international commitments for Scotland and the relentless Championship fixture schedule means there has been no real chance for manager Warburton to work on a potential change of formation.
Asked if there was a possibility of Rangers switching to two up front, Warburton said: “There will be, when we get a chance to train.
“We literally have not had a day when they can train together.
“Lyndon goes away during the international break and plays for Scotland. We’ve had no chance to work together.
“Actually working together is so, so difficult - not only for us but for all teams.
“Macca has not actually had a training session yet with Lyndon Dykes, which is quite bizarre.”
Dykes has only scored once from open play since his move from Livingston.
He missed an early chance in Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with Stoke when was unable to score from close range after being found by Ilias Chair’s low cross.
“We could have scored - Ilias across and Lyndon, good movement,” Warburton said.
“We should take those chances, but we score as a team - you can’t just turn around and say ‘It’s him’.
“We’ve all got a responsibility at set pieces, for example, to attack the ball. We attack as a team and defend as a team and it’s really important to highlight that.”
