QPR ‘gave points away’, Warburton admits
Mark Warburton admitted QPR threw away points in their defeat at Peterborough.
They took the lead through Ilias Chair’s fifth goal in as many games but ended up losing 2-1 after conceding an injury-time goal on the counter-attack.
Rangers boss Warburton felt the substitution of Sam McCallum was a factor in the outcome.
McCallum, recently back from a hamstring injury, went off with eight minutes remaining.
“To give away a goal in that manner is very, very hard to take,” Warburton said.
“We were out of shape. We had to take Sam off, unfortunately, because he had a tight hamstring and we had to be careful with him. We lost our balance.
“But we’ve got to be better than that. We’ve got to recognise that we’ve got to keep our shape, keep our balance, take care of the ball – and we didn’t do that.
“If you come here and are not at our best but get a point, four out of six, then OK fine. But we’ve given away points today.
“We weren’t at our best today, but being 1-0 up we should have managed the game better. We let ourselves down.”
A draw would have kept Rangers fifth in the Championship table. The defeat meant they dropped to seventh.

Peter – agreed. They all play the same number of games at the same frequency. We seem to be able to string a few decent games together before crumbling time after time. How we are where we are beats me, it must be the results of our better performances, because our rubbish ones really are rubbish.

Every team in this league has the same number of matches, sometimes the scheduling and travelling create more stress but still need a sufficient squad depth and quality. Still a great position in the league table compared to recent years, hopefully we can maintain the push.

Its the age old story – defence letting us down again & again, dont blame the keeper, he’s trying to save penalties all the time.

Sorry to say the constant physical demands of the Championship are exposing a couple of the lads the wrong side of thirty. Never understood loaning out Bonne Dykes was given time and he came good. Amos and a fit Field must be regular starters. Can’t live on reputations.

With all due resect to Peterborough, QPR should have been out of sight by half time. To end up 1-2 down after being 1-0 up is unacceptable when considering the talent on show.
‘Must try harder’ comes to mind.

No excuse for management or ownership
Losing games due to lack of depth
