QPR set to extend Kakay’s contract
QPR are close to agreeing a new contract with youngster Osman Kakay.
Rangers plan to extend Angel Rangel’s short-term deal after the veteran right-back’s hugely impressive performances since arriving in August.
Rangel replaced Kakay, who had been brought into the side after Darnell Furlong suffered a knee injury in pre-season.
Furlong’s recovery has nudged Kakay further down the pecking order and he is being lined up for a loan move in January.
But the club have moved to cement the 21-year-old’s long-term future at Loftus Road and are set to extend his contract until 2021. His current deal is due to expire at the end of the season.
Kakay has made six appearances for Rangers this season and 11 in total.
He has also played first-team football during loan spells at Chesterfield and Livingston.
Meanwhile, Luke Freeman has extended his QPR contract until 2021.
