Mark Warburton is unsure whether QPR goalkeeper Seny Dieng will return before the end of the season.
The Senegal international has been out since suffering thigh injury against Blackburn more than a month ago.
His torn quadricep resulted in him joining fellow R’s keepers David Marshall, Joe Walsh and Jordan Archer on the sidelines and the club signing Kieren Westwood as cover.
Rangers initially expected to have a clearer idea after around four weeks when Dieng might be ready to return.
However, the situation remains unclear.
Manager Warburton explained: “He’s working hard every day but he’s not ready yet. The medical team are doing some great work with him.
“Once we know we know. At the moment we don’t know. We’ve just got to wait and see.
“The big thing when you have a quad injury is striking the ball.
“We’ve got to see how that progresses. That’s going to be the acid test.
“When the ball comes to you you can’t say ‘Sorry, I can’t kick that one’ and there’s no way you can kick through it knowing you’re going to rip your quad.”
Meanwhile, Lyndon Dykes is set to return to the QPR squad for Saturday’s west London derby against Fulham.
The striker’s fitness will be assessed before a decision is made on whether he starts the game.
Some eyebrows were raised by Dykes featuring for Scotland against Austria this week despite having not played for his club since mid-February because of a hamstring problem.
But Warburton said: “I think people need to look at the details.
“He wasn’t fit to play and didn’t go away with Scotland until he had proved his fitness with QPR
“He stayed, trained on the Sunday and on the Tuesday and Wednesday and then travelled after that - hence he missed their first game (against Poland).
“You have to make sure that a player is fit and well. Then at that point any country has the right to call him up.
“We were happy with where Lyndon was. He’d worked hard in training and then went up there and got some pitch time. Everyone benefits from that.
“He has to prove his fitness, of course. If he’s not ready to go then he’s out for the duration of the international break and doesn’t go anywhere.
“It was one of those ones where he’s getting near to fitness, had some hard sessions with us and then got some minutes under his belt.”
