Sutherland knows Leyton Orient spell is key to his QPR ‘dream’

Frankie Sutherland admits he needs to impress while on loan at Leyton Orient to have any chance of achieving his ambition of breaking into the QPR first team.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who is yet to make a competitive appearance for Rangers, recently joined the League One leaders but remained an unused substitute at the weekend.

“The dream is to play in the first team for QPR – that’s my aim. Hopefully I’ll be able to break through eventually,” he said.

“If I can go out and get as many games as I can under my belt, then I can come back and put my name into the mix for the first team.”

Orient are enjoying the best league start in the club’s history and Sutherland, who played for QPR’s development side this week, is under no illusions about how tough it will be to break into the O’s team.

He said: “Obviously they’ve had a great start to the season. I just want to play as much as I can – hopefully I’ll be able to do well there.

“It would be nice to be playing regularly and see the loan extended but it’s hard to tell at the minute.

“I know it’s down to me and being able to impress the manager down there. “
