Supersub Sylla rescues point for QPR at Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest 1 QPR 1
Substitute Idrissa Sylla’s late goal salvaged a point for 10-man QPR at the City Ground.
Karl Henry was sent off for a second bookable offence 11 minutes before half-time and worse followed for Rangers when Britt Assombalonga put Nottingham Forest ahead.
But Forest were unconvincing – and were themselves reduced to 10 men when Hildeberto Pereira was sent off with 19 minutes remaining.
And Sylla struck with five minutes left, heading home at the near post from a superb cross by fellow substitute Nasser El Khayati.
Henry, playing in the absence of Massimo Luongo and Ariel Borysiuk, picked up a second yellow card after needlessly tripping Henri Lansbury.
A couple of minutes later, Assombalonga put the hosts ahead.
Earlier, Assombalonga had a goal disallowed and was denied by a fine save from Alex Smithies.
Assombalonga found the net from close range but was offside, and was given another chance when left through on goal after Nedum Onuoha misjudged Lansbury’s long ball.
Smithies came to Rangers’ rescue but was unable to do so when Assombalonga again got through and this time rounded the Rangers keeper before scoring from a tight angle despite Grant Hall’s attempt to clear.
QPR, who have never won at Forest, had a decent spell early in the second half, with Conor Washington seeing an effort saved and substitute Olamide Shodipo firing narrowly over.
They were given hope when Pereira was dismissed for a second bookable offence following a foul on Washington.
And when El Khayati served up a terrific delivery just after coming on, Sylla pounced to score his fourth goal of the season.
