QPR failed with a bid to sign Andros Townsend from Tottenham before Monday night’s deadline.
Rangers have wanted to buy the England international, 23, since he impressed during a spell on loan at Loftus Road the season before last.
Spurs had indicated that he was not for sale and duly rejected an offer during the final hours of the transfer window.
Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp was able to bring in Brazilian midfielder Sandro from the north London club.
The Rangers boss was also tipped to launch a bid to sign Spurs’ Aaron Lennon but did not pursue the winger despite being told he was potentially available.
Townsend was the wide-man Redknapp and the QPR board wanted, but they were given short shrift by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy when an approach was made.

I totally agree with both comments on Townsend. It actually made my stomach turn when Poch said he was very much in his plans. However, on reflection, I think there's an ulterior motive why we didn't sell him to the hoops and that is we are going to use him as a make weight when we go back in for Jay Rod come Christmas. COYS
I cannot belie4ve we let go the chance to get money for Mr Townsend !! he is almost everything that's wrong with our club ! what do these people see when he scuffs the ball , loses the ball and generally aimlessly runs the ball into the oppositions possession Kane is the other one ! both out of the same mould and we sold our Beast ??????????? whats going on !!!
