Cifuentes praises QPR players after another home win

Marti Cifuentes praised his QPR players after they began 2025 with a 3-1 victory over Watford – their fourth home win in a row.

Bottom of the Championship table a few weeks ago, Rangers have now lost just one of their past 10 matches – a run which has included five clean sheets.

Head coach Cifuentes said: “I’m definitely happy for the players, with the performance and for all the fans.

“Credit to the players as they are working really hard. We know which are the areas that we can still improve – there are many where we can still do better.”

The fit-again Michael Frey, starting a match for the first time since October, put the R’s ahead after just five minutes.

Jimmy Dunne doubled the lead with his third goal in seven matches.

And straight after Kwadwo Baah pulled a goal back for Watford 10 minutes into the second half, Sam Field restored Rangers’ two-goal cushion.

Cifuentes praised Dunne and the outstanding Paul Smyth, as well as Harrison Ashby.

There was praise too for young midfielder Kieran Morgan, who continues to impress.

Morgan, signed last summer after leaving Tottenham, set up the opening goal.

“He’s a player that I really like. That’s why he came with us during pre-season. He’s been showing a lot of good things,” said Cifuentes.

“We have to be a little bit careful and go step-by-step with him, but he’s playing the minutes that he deserves.

“He’s so smart, so mature. Now we need to take care of him.”
