Ian Holloway insisted James Perch should not have been sent off during QPR’s 2-1 defeat against Wolves.
The visitors took advantage at Loftus Road after Perch was dismissed for a second yellow card following a 34th-minute foul on Matt Doherty.
Holloway accepted that challenge warranted a booking, but was furious at the earlier decision to caution Perch for dissent after the player disputed a free-kick being awarded for a foul on Wolves keeper Carl Ikeme.
“I’m sorry, it wasn’t (dissent). I think the referee has made a mistake and then my player made a mistake with the second challenge,” Holloway said.
“On a wet pitch he decided to make the challenge, which he shouldn’t have done. But sorry, the first one was ridiculous.
“He didn’t swear. If he had sworn I could have understood, but he didn’t. But it was the newfangled rule about ‘aggressive manner’.”
The defeat was QPR’s second in three matches since Holloway’s return for a second spell as manager.
