Eddie Howe has described a report suggesting Bournemouth are planning a £14m bid for Charlie Austin as a “total fabrication.”
Howe told the Bournemouth Daily Echo there is no prospect of him signing QPR striker Austin, who has been linked with several clubs.
West London Sport revealed last week that £12m bid for Austin from Leicester had been rejected.
Speculation over his future has since continued, with Bournemouth and Newcastle reported to be willing to pay close to Rangers’ £15m asking price.
Cherries boss Howe added: “We are not in the market for players costing £14m and the story was inaccurate.
“As much as I am an admirer of Charlie Austin, he is out of our reach financially.”
