Redknapp: No offer was made to Cole
Harry Redknapp says he did not make Carlton Cole an offer before the striker recently signed a new deal at West Ham.
Redknapp wanted to take Cole to QPR in the summer but the former Chelsea man ended up signing a short-term contract at Upton Park, having initially been released by the east London club.
Prior to that contract expiring, Rangers boss Redknapp indicated that he would be interested in taking Cole until the end of the season if he became a free agent.
But West Ham manager Sam Allardyce made it clear he intended to keep him and the R’s were already looking elsewhere by the time Cole re-signed.
“We didn’t pursue that one really,” Redknapp explained.
“I like Carlton Cole, he’s a good player. But he’s at West Ham playing in the Premier League and they offered him an 18-month contract, so I’m pleased for him.”
Redknapp has also denied reports Modibo Maiga rejected a move to QPR.
