QPR manager Harry Redknapp believes he will complete the signing of former Chelsea man Yossi Benayoun in the next few days.
The 33-year-old Israeli, a free agent since leaving Stamford Bridge during the summer, has trained with the R’s and would like an 18-month contract.
Rangers’ board have reservations, mainly because of his age, and have discussed taking him on a deal until the end of the season.
Former Tottenham boss Redknapp is keen to make the signing and is confident an agreement will be reached.
He said: “We’re still talking and hopefully we’ll get there. We’re having a chat to him and I’m sure, hopefully, something will get done over the weekend with him.
“He’s a good footballer, a top-class player with great ability. I’ve always liked him – I tried to take him to Tottenham – and think he’ll be a good addition to the squad in a busy period we’ve got coming up.”
