QPR boss Harry Redknapp has backed Marc Bircham for the Millwall manager’s job.
The 35-year-old, who played for both clubs, is currently in charge of Rangers’ Under-21 side and is on the shortlist to take over at The Den following Kenny Jackett’s resignation.
And Redknapp, who wants to make major behind-the-scenes changes at Loftus Road this summer, believes Bircham is ready to move into management.
He said: “It would be a great opportunity for someone like Marc.
“He’s a great lad and I think given the opportunity somewhere like that he could do very well.
“It’d be good for him. He works hard with the young players here, he knows the game, and I think given the opportunity there he’ll take it.
“You don’t get the experience unless you’re given the chance. If someone gives him the chance we’ll find out whether he’s capable or not.
“You never know until you get given that opportunity.”
