Rangers striker Cisse leaves Loftus Road
Striker Djibril Cisse has left QPR by mutual consent.
The 31-year-old, who ended last season on loan with Qatari club Al-Gharafa, is now a free agent.
Cisse has been linked with a move to Montpellier, while Al-Gharafa have indicated that they would like to sign him on a permanent basis.
St Etienne, who finished fifth in Ligue 1 last season, have also expressed an interest in taking him back to France.
After being signed from Lazio by the then QPR manager Mark Hughes in January 2012, Cisse’s six goals in eight appearances helped the club stay in the Premier League.
But he became unsettled at Loftus Road and made it clear that he wanted to leave prior to Hughes being replaced by Harry Redknapp.
Cisse, who started his career with Auxerre, won the Champions League during a three-year spell at Liverpool. He has also played for Sunderland, Marseille and Panathinaikos.

Why release on a free with a year left instead of trying to sell and recoup some money?
