QPR have denied that Sandro has been deported after playing for the club without a valid work permit last season.
The issue meant the Brazilian midfielder, who moved to Loftus Road from Tottenham for £6m last summer, missed the final three matches of the campaign.
The Home Office is currently investigating the matter and Sandro, 26, will not be able to return to the UK until he has the necessary paperwork.
A statement issued by Rangers read: “The club is aware of today’s story in The Sun newspaper regarding Sandro and the Home Office.
“Whilst the club is in dialogue with the Home Office in a bid to resolve the matter, it is not in a position to comment further at this time.
“However, the club can clarify that Sandro is currently on holiday in Brazil – but wasn’t deported as suggested in the article.”
