Rangers agree signings of Mutch and Isla

QPR have agreed the signing of Cardiff City midfielder Jordon Mutch and are set to complete a loan deal for Juventus’ Chile star Mauricio Isla.

Rangers are poised to capture Mutch, 22, for £5m after activating a release clause in his Cardiff contract.

Earlier this summer they activated a similar clause to clinch the £8m signing of Steven Caulker from the Welsh club, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Isla, who impressed at the recent World Cup, is heading to Loftus Road on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move.

The 26-year-old can play at full-back or further forward and Harry Redknapp, who is keen to use wing-backs this season, sees him as the ideal alternative to the more defensive Danny Simpson.

Isla is set to move to west London along with Mutch.

He has been with Juventus since 2012, having previously had a five-year spell with Udinese.

Mutch joined Cardiff from Birmingham City in 2012 and was a stand-out player for the Bluebirds last term despite their relegation.

Redknapp has been looking to add to his midfield options, having failed to land Steve Sidwell, who joined Stoke, and Craig Bryson, who signed a new contract at Derby.

The Rangers boss has also expressed an interest in Leroy Fer but Norwich turned down QPR’s offer for the Netherlands international, who is also wanted by Southampton.

  • The priority now must be two more forwards - even if Remy stays because Bobby is only 60% fit at best and will no doubt be used from the bench if at all.

  • Let's see what we end up with but true to their word the bosses of Qpr are trying to bring in some good young players to secure QPR's future. I must admit if all goes to plan QPR will have a competitive team this season and thereafter a bit of luck to keep key players fit win as many as we lose.
Good luck all at Rangers we will need at least our fair share and look forward to the first game against Hull.
I have my ticket and meet up with fellow Hoops supporters for a beer and Nandos what could be better in this world.

  • Mutch is a good signing and has played well in the Engish top flight already.

Bit suspicious about Isla because we have all seen latin americans struggle to adapt to playing in Enghand. And why is he available on loan? If nobody wants to buy him that worrys me a bit that he might be another flop.

  • Agreed, and on the face of it two more good signings! If Remy agrees to stay that would be fantastic! Still need one more striker though on top of Remy or two if he does not stay!
