Chris Ramsey says a decision has not yet been made on who will captain QPR against Arsenal on Wednesday.
Rangers are without the suspended Joey Barton, while club captain Clint Hill has found his first-team opportunities limited.
Bobby Zamora has worn the armband this season and Rio Ferdinand is another possible option.
Head coach Ramsey plans to discuss the issue with assistant manager Kevin Bond and coach Kevin Hitchcock before making a decision.
He explained: “I haven’t selected a captain. We’ll talk about it later.
“There are one or two senior players that have impressed me and can step up.”
Barton will miss three matches after being sent off during the recent defeat at Hull.
“It’s obviously disappointing, because he’s a wholehearted player and since I’ve come in he has helped other players to have that fighting spirit,” Ramsey said.
“The good thing for us is that Sandro is now in contention. He’s worked hard to get himself fit.”
