Ramsey defends Henry after QPR win

Chris Ramsey defended Karl Henry after the QPR midfielder was barracked by the home fans during his team’s 3-0 win against MK Dons at Loftus Road.

Head coach Ramsey was also jeered before Jay Emmanuel-Thomas broke the deadlock and Matt Phillips and substitute Junior Hoilett netted late on.

Henry was restored to the starting line-up in the absence of the injured Sandro.

“I look at the job Karl does and he does a lot of unseen work,” said Ramsey.

“There are players who look pretty and open things up and generally get the plaudits, but you also need players like him who are prepared to run and tackle. That’s what he give us and it’s just as important.”

Ramsey has been criticised for playing with only one striker and his decision to substitute Massimo Luongo with another midfielder in Leroy Fer provoked an angry response from the crowd.

The under-pressure Ramsey was again jeered by the home fans

“You have to make the call. Both Leroy and Junior managed to get involved in goals as well as do a good job for the team,” said Ramsey.

“I suppose people give you stick when it doesn’t work out, but today it did. Against Sheffield Wednesday in midweek I made similar change and it stayed 0-0.

“We were on top for most of the game but didn’t take all our chances and when you play against a team that pass the ball like MK Dons you know there’s always a chance of them getting in behind you.

“We stuck at it and we got another clean sheet, which is important for us because we know if we can do that we are capable of scoring goals.”

  • Just proves Henry is Ramseys favourite not sure why as hes the worst player ive seen at qpr in 35 years of supporting them.I disagree Henry doesn't do his job he rounds around chasing shadows most of the game it's like playing with 10 men.

  • We won I am glad. Hill had a lot to do with it. Wins are built with a solid defence and not conceding. Gives a team a chance of winning. Anyway, CR ...good win for you.
