Jack Robinson has told QPR’s website he expects to return to full training within the next two weeks.
The left-back, signed from Liverpool in 2014, has not featured since finally making his Rangers debut in April.
That debut came more than a year after Robinson, 23, suffered cruciate knee ligament damage while playing for Huddersfield, who signed him on a season-long loan immediately after his move to QPR.
He hoped to be fully fit for the start of this season but has struggled with a shin injury and a niggling knee problem.
But he said: “Within the next two weeks I should be back to full training, and then if I can get a couple of Under-23 games in me I should be available for the first-team squad.”
The former England Under-21 international also says he has made major changes since the summer.
Robinson explained: “I worked so hard to get to that point last season where I made my debut, and I thought I would just push on from there.
“It hasn’t worked like that, but that’s football. Sometimes you have setbacks. That’s life.
“In the end, I sat down and thought about what I needed to do, what I needed to change in my life that would help me get fit and keep fit.
“I’ve changed everything; my diet, my mental approach to training, how I train – the lot.”
