‘Household names’ must improve – Barton

Joey Barton has told QPR’s website that the club’s high-profile players need to do better following recent results.

Saturday’s 4-0 thrashing at Everton in the FA Cup came after Rangers had ended three-game run without a league win or a goal by beating Doncaster at Loftus Road.

Third in the Championship table, five points behind leaders Leicester, the team head to Ipswich this weekend looking for only their second away win since September.

And Barton said: “We’ve got some good players here – some big household names – but we’ve all got to do much, much better, myself included.

“It all goes out the window when you don’t perform. We must do better. We weren’t good enough at Goodison and we let our supporters down.

“There are lots of lessons to be learned. We won’t get out of the Championship if we perform like we did on Saturday, so we need to improve.

“We’ve got a fixed sight now on getting this club back in the Premier League. That’s our goal – always has been all season – and we’re determined to bounce back.”

  • Barton is the wickness in QPR team and is therefore a problem they must solve. What i mean is with him around others can't really perform to their peak.

  • Big time Charlie's got us relegated last season. Now more have come in and are being found out against the better teams.
One proper striker and no energy in midfield also a hindrance. Don't blow it!

  • Household names! My @rse - a perfect example of the arrogance that will keep you in this division! Oh and then there's you Barton - known only for being a tw@t!

  • Try running about a bit more - like chasing back for the ball - closing down quicker and keeping a higher line. Don't hide behind household names that mean nothing without guts and determination. This week, please look as if you want to win and not just go through the motions.
