‘Household names’ must improve – Barton

Joey Barton has told QPR’s website that the club’s high-profile players need to do better following recent results.

Saturday’s 4-0 thrashing at Everton in the FA Cup came after Rangers had ended a three-game run without a league win or a goal by beating Doncaster at Loftus Road.

Third in the Championship table, five points behind leaders Leicester, the team head to Ipswich this weekend looking for only their second away win since September.

And Barton said: “We’ve got some good players here – some big household names – but we’ve all got to do much, much better, myself included.

“It all goes out the window when you don’t perform. We must do better. We weren’t good enough at Goodison and we let our supporters down.

“There are lots of lessons to be learned. We won’t get out of the Championship if we perform like we did on Saturday, so we need to improve.

“We’ve got a fixed sight now on getting this club back in the Premier League. That’s our goal – always has been all season – and we’re determined to bounce back.”
