QPR defender Darnell Furlong feels he and the club have come a long way following their narrow FA Cup exit to Watford.
Furlong was up against Premier League opposition for the first time since he was thrust into the firing line as a teenager during Rangers’ most recent season in the top flight.
Now 23, he acquitted himself well against Watford frontmen Troy Deeney and Andre Gray, despite the 1-0 defeat at Loftus Road on Friday.
“When I made my debut in the Premier League it was difficult – the first winger I had to deal with in professional football was (Alexis) Sanchez,” Furlong recalled.
“It’s crazy to have to do that in your first season. But we’ve come a long way and it’s nice to be part of that with QPR.”
