Les Ferdinand has held initial talks with the Football Association over the role of the governing body’s technical director.
QPR’s director of football is seen by the FA as a possible replacement for Dan Ashworth, who is leaving to take a role at Brighton.
Former R’s and England striker Ferdinand has overseen difficult changes at Loftus Road since returning to the club.
Ferdinand was given the position of head of football operations in October 2014 and was later made director of football.
He has presided over budgetary cuts caused by Financial Fair Play restrictions and Rangers’ previous lavish spending, as well as encouraging a return to an emphasis on developing younger players.
