QPR’s Ephraim lined up for New York move

Hogan Ephraim could soon be playing alongside Thierry Henry for the New York Red Bulls.

Former QPR manager Paulo Sousa has agreed to take over as head coach of the MLS outfit and wants Ephraim to join him in the States.

The 24-year-old is not in Rangers boss Harry Redknapp’s plans and has been told he can move on loan for the rest of the season.

He previously spent time on loan at Charlton, who are interested in having him back, while Millwall would also like him.

But Sousa plans to offer Ephraim the chance to make a name for himself across the Atlantic.

The former West Ham trainee helped QPR win promotion to the Premier League in 2011 but has played only three times for them since.

Ephraim was named in their last 25-man squad but has not made a single first-team appearance this season.

He twice sought a loan move when Mark Hughes was at the club but the Welshman refused to let him go – and was sacked as manager the day after the loan window closed.

Highly regarded by Sousa during the Portuguese’s troubled five-month spell at Rangers, Ephraim will link up with the likes of Arsenal legend Henry and ex-Everton star Tim Cahill if he accepts the invitation from his former boss.
