Robinson has England potential – Powell

QPR’s Jack Robinson has the potential to play for England if he continues to develop his game, according to Huddersfield Town boss Chris Powell.

The left-back, 21, joined Rangers in August from Liverpool and was immediately sent on loan to the Terriers to gain first-team experience.

He has four England Under-21 caps and was again named in the squad last week for matches with Portugal and France.

But Powell, a former England left-back himself, believes Robinson has the tools to graduate to the senior squad.

He said: “There’s potential there but he’s got to play regularly, be consistent and see where it takes him. It will be strictly down to him.

“He’s a good young player learning his trade. He’s steadily got better and better in games.

“I obviously want to help him, as an ex-left-back, to improve his game. When it’s in an area you know, you want to help them to have good careers and be better players for the future.

“I spoke to QPR a couple of weeks back. They’ve sent scouts to watch him and I told them about what I’ve seen one-on-one.

“It’s good that they’re keeping an eye on him and hopefully we can get him in a place that will help him and help QPR in the future.”
