Cifuentes considered starting with Armstrong
Marti Cifuentes has admitted he strongly considered starting with Sinclair Armstrong against Sunderland.
QPR boss Cifuentes opted to select Lyndon Dykes up front at the Stadium of Light.
Armstrong, 20, troubled Sunderland after coming on for Dykes during the second half as Rangers tried in vain to break the deadlock.
And Cifuentes revealed: “We were really thinking during the whole week if he (Armstrong) should start the game or not.”
The Spaniard added: “Sometimes when he starts he can get tired, but when he comes on as a sub he has a great impact, especially against defensive lines that try to play higher up the pitch.
“I think he did a great job and has made a great impact during games. He’s very important and he has that pace and the capacity to attack.”
Saturday’s goalless draw meant Rangers remained a point above the relegation zone.
They face a crucial match at home to fellow strugglers Birmingham City after the international break.
