QPR took another look at Dundee United striker Lawrence Shankland on Saturday.
An R’s scout saw the Scotland international, 24, score a hat-trick in a 4-1 win against Partick.
Shankland has scored 24 goals for Scottish Championship leaders United this season.
QPR director of football Les Ferdinand recently watched him in a derby match against Dundee.
Ferdinand and manager Mark Warburton would like to sign forward on a permanent deal this month to act as back-up for on-loan duo Nahki Wells and Jordan Hugill with a view to being a first-team regular next season.
Shankland is one of several possible options who have been monitored in recent months.

He scores a lot of goals but at a much lower standard.
Can he produce at championship level?
I think at 24 he is worth taking a chance on
While Shankland looks a good scorer in Scotland the championship is a different proposition, scoring goals is not our problem at the moment, personally I would try to get Alex Smithies back from Cardiff and start playing Masterson in the starting 11.
BUY,BUY,BUY, Then go out get a goalkeeper who can keep goal, then go out and get a defence that can defend.Against the better teams we need a keeper who inspires his defence not what we have at the moment, one that totally demoralises his defence.
For gods sake - I give up. what part of defence dont they understand?
