QPR wanted Newcastle striker and PSG youngster
QPR made enquiries about Newcastle striker Adam Armstrong ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline and were unable to push through a deal to sign French teenager Roli Pereira from Paris St-Germain.
Newcastle indicated that they were unwilling to loan Armstrong, 19, to what they saw as a Championship promotion rival.
He was subsequently sent on loan to Barnsley, who also completed the signing of defender Cole Kpekawa from QPR.
Until a few hours before the deadline Rangers believed they might land France Under-19 forward Pereira.
However, they were unable to reach an agreement to sign the 19-year-old, who has yet to make a first-team appearance for PSG but played 14 times for Ligue 2 side Paris FC last season.
