QPR began Ian Holloway’s second reign as boss by beating 10-man Norwich at Loftus Road. Here’s how we rated the Rangers players in their 2-1 win.
Didn’t have much to do but was a calming presence at the back, dealing soundly with any high balls into the box.
Showed his versatility by stepping into midfield as Rangers sought to make the most of their numerical advantage. He was neat and tidy and got forward well, but had a sloppy spell during the second half when Norwich were on top.
Another player who showed his versatility, operating as a wing-back and full-back during a steady performance.
A strong performance from the Rangers skipper, whose persistence led to the penalty and more importantly the sending-off of Norwich’s Martin Olsson, which immediately turned the odds in the hosts’ favour.
A fine display – Lynch’s best for Rangers so far. He was a threat going forward from left-back, showing ability on the ball as well as strength and directness.
Sometimes previously deployed on the right, Cousins looked much more comfortable in the middle, where he broke up attacks with license to push forward himself. An encouraging display.
Holloway’s more attacking approach was summed up by the fact that Luongo, ordered to improve the defensive side of his game by previous boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, was much more influential in the attacking third. He still got through plenty of defensive work too.
Went off at half-time after suffering a hamstring injury – a shame as he had been having a useful game. His long throws are an asset and let to Rangers’ early penalty, and he showed plenty of ability going forward.
Atoned for an early penalty miss with a lovely pass to set up Sebastian Polter for the second goal. He was always busy and creative.
Made the most of his first real opportunity to play as the ‘off the shoulder’ striker Holloway wants him to focus on being again. Scored the opening goal with a cool finish and would have scored a second but for a fine save.
Teed up Washington for the opener and then scored after being put through by Chery. Strong and hardworking, this was Polter at his best.
Had some bright moments after coming on at the break but Norwich were easily able to play around him when they began to impose themselves in the second half.
Full of running after coming on as a substitute midway through the second-half, the youngster sprinted half the length of the pitch to save the day with an important challenge as Norwich threatened.
