QPR v Ipswich player ratings
For the second game running, Pawel Wszolek scored a late winner for QPR. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 2-1 victory over Ipswich.
Alex Smithies: 7
Once again, Smithies was the main reason QPR only conceded once. He had no chance with Ipswich’s stunning leveller, but certainly was a major factor in his side’s win, producing saves to deny David McGoldrick.
James Perch: 7
A solid display from Perch, who has hit a good little run of form in recent games.
Joel Lynch: 7
Another strong performance from Lynch. He kept QPR’s captain out of the starting line-up, which is no mean feat considering Nedum Onuoha’s run of appearances prior to his suspension.
Grant Hall: 7
Produced an excellent saving tackle to deny Brett Pitman just after the visitors’ goal in a typically assured and robust performance – even after moving into midfield.
Jake Bidwell: 6
His end product was lacking again, but his work at the back was tidy enough.
Ariel Borysiuk: 6
Tidy on the ball and strong in the tackle in the more defensive midfield role. Could have closed down Tom Lawrence quicker for Ipswich’s goal though.
Ryan Manning: 7
Good stuff from the 20-year-old on his home debut. Manning showed some neat touches and kept it simple, but he struggled with the pace of the game in the second half before being taken off after 70 minutes.
Jordan Cousins: 6
The more advanced of QPR’s middle men and he linked the play nicely, but his defensive positioning was poor at times.
Pawel Wszolek: 7
Showed great composure and skill to score QPR’s second goal, rounding off a battling performance.
Jamie Mackie: 8
Lined up initially on the left and had some success before being moved. As always, he just kept going and was a constant thorn in Ipswich’s side.
Idrissa Sylla: 7
Scored the opener with a thumping volley – his second goal in as many games – but was taken off just minutes later with a head injury.
Conor Washington: 6
Had a good chance after coming on and was denied by a good save. His movement caused Ipswich problems.
Nedum Onuoha: 6
Came on and continued the good work of Hall in the centre of defence. Stuck his head in when the feet were flying with an important header towards the end of the game as Ipswich pressed.
Nasser El Khayati: 6
Looked like he was trying too hard to show what he could do with the ball at his feet as he gave the ball away on a couple of occasions.
